This Gabbeh rug was handwoven during the 20th century.
It features a field of checkered squares composed of a variety of variegated tones of undyed wool in shades of gray, beige, and brown. The squares are neatly ordered yet sway from side to side showing the hand. the squares are surrounded by a simple order of "naively" rendered diamonds whose scale and position subtly shift in a very organic way. The pile is densely woven, making this a plush rug.
The rug is very good condition, with minimal signs of wear.
